Made slowly.
Built to last.

Started in 1957, the Atelier is now in its third generation of leather workers, from grandfather to father, to now son. All leather is ethically sourced from across Europe and South America, and worked with care and respect.

The Atelier

Started with a single workbench

Atelier Oliveira began in a small tucked away space in one of Lisbon's alleyways, with attentive craftsmanship in mind. Every bag, pouch and pair of shoes we make still passes through the same hands, start to finish - cut, stitched, and finished the slow way.

"Our team has all been trained by João Oliveira, son of founder Afonso Oliveira, using distinct century-old Portuguese leather working methods"

From the Journal

On patience, and why we don't rush a stitch.

A single pouch takes the better part of a day, start to finish. We could go faster. We've chosen not to - some things are only worth doing at the pace they ask for.
